“Through Our Eyes” in Northern Uganda
In September
2009, “Through Our Eyes” training was carried out in Gulu, northern Uganda. Workshop participants
included ARC staff, individuals working with local partner agencies, and community members. The new team
created two videos: a drama on the role of men in promoting family well-being, and a documentary about
living positively with HIV/AIDS. The first community playback of these programs sparked lively
discussion and enthusiastic response to project activities.
Subsequent programs addressed sexual exploitation, the dangers of such practices as forced marriage and
widow inheritance, and the importance of girls’ education.
